One week left!

Rugby. =( The poor guy was nearly crying as he made the morning announcement... Even if you aren't interested in sports, how can you not be moved?

The stupid gap between the sports-liking and the disinterested bothers me a bit. I can understand if you don't play a sport yourself, but even in arts classes, there are school-team players. How can you not care about a fellow schoolmate? Don't tell me that you don't know a single sports person (which, I believe, is impossible even with a cohort this big), but it's such a common theme of human life - the drive, the passion. And then you don't care about them?

... Unbelievable.

Congrads to Basketball Girls and Softball guys and girls anyway. =) Woot. (I'm sorry V! >_< It seems we keep stealing finals out from under them, and I like V, I really do. Other JCs now... hehen.)

--------------------

GIC talk was okay. Went with a bunch of classmates... Not entirely convinced though.

-----------------

Exams on monday! >_< Oh no! ... I'll die for sure, especially since I won't really be studying again. Haha. I'm going out with G, Y and S on sunday, and we'll probably catch a movie or too. I'm going out with Y for the college play tonight too, and we'll probably stay out till late. =D Such a nice guy.

CCA was good. The juniors are getting the hang of things, so I feel better now.

Fish Tyccon eats my brains. Whee.

Thank God for the International Press.

AFP tells it as it is.

Always, always look up if non-ASEAN and non-Singaporean Journos take an interest in us. This a spectacularly well balanced article, IMO. You should use google news and see the CNA ones.

... Excuse me, the PAP has the support of the *youth*? Someone obviously hasn't been out of the PM's office for a few decades.

Tis a sad day for Singapore

PAP wins 82 out of 84 seats
WP wins Hougang, SDA wins Potong Pasir
PAP average percent is 66.6%

I believe the phrase used for Tony Blair last year was "why yes, you did give him a bloody nose".

But not bloody enough.

I was absolutely horrified by the press conference. LHL frankly has no gravitas at all, and is completely deluded by the results. Excuse me, by A level standards, you get a B. And that means if you take 3 Singaporeans, 1 of 'em wants the PAP out.

I do think we rattled them a lot though. And I hope Sylvia gets the NMP spot, which would be wonderful.

66.6% is not a strong mandate, whatever LHL thinks. He completely dismissed any suggestion of people's unhappiness with him and the PAP during the press conference, and frankly, the PAP people around him aren't much better.

Just wait till I hit voting age. >D

--------------------------

What really weirds me out though, is the little AFP ticker at the back of the Today Online article stub.

Singapore's ruling People's Action Party (PAP) was returned to power Saturday after securing more than half of the seats in the 84-member parliament, official results showed. — AFP

So you're telling me that the Singapore press is getting newsfeeds about Singaporean politics from the international press?? @_@

AUGH.

DAMMIT, I can't access gmail, yahoo AND hotmail and I have Season to layout!

*screams* What the peepees is wrong?! I've fiddled the modem, I've rebooted, I've restarted IE and ZLICH. NADA.

*pissed*

-----------------

If I were the PAP, I'd be mud-slinging too.

But honestly? WP has a terrible economic strategy. Darlings, money for subsidies has to come from somewhere. (On the other hand, $100 million for upgrading has to come from somewhere too...) But I really can't stand that fact that the PAP has just shown that it has ZERO, zero integrity. First you say that we're an orderly democracy, unlike America (PS: orderly democracy = oxymoron.) Then, you start mudslinging. Seriously? I am convinced by words and actions and good policies - so what if the opposition is a bit shady? What does the mudslinging say about you?

-----------------

New J1 councillors: Cheering wars do NOT make your seniors happy, thank you. But it's true that it does seem as if *they* choose councillors based on how loud and how piercingly they can scream. Ow, my ears.

I find it weird when (okay, let's call it JC X) JC X's councillors pray before a finals. So, uhm, okay. You're praying for something bad to happen to us? >_> Does God really grant evil wishes?

... 4-1 says "no", dearest councillors of JC X.

-----------------

Oh gawd NARUTO. A-- T---!!! How can you do this to meee??? >_> See, I managed to stay away since like, 2003, but not now! >_<

Thankfully I am not reduced to zombiefied fangirl yet. ^_^; Heh. I think partially because 14 books in one day (^_^;;;) is an huge overload, so I'm still digesting, and secondly because the plot structure is terrifically similar to Bleach. LJ cut so I won't spoil ya. Bleach all the way till the latest manga chapter. Naruto till book 14. )

I shall resist reading the other, what, 19 books? ^_^;

Frogs

We caught this huge frog/toad in the pond a few days ago, and it was laying eggs like nobody's business. Which is very bad because the whole reason we caught Mr Froggy because he croaked so freaking loud that we could hear him on the third level. -_-; Can you think of a whole CLAN of loud frogs? Ack.

And if anyone wants me tonight, I'll be at a field in Hougang. >D

Lalalala

Have once again spent the WHOLE DAY doing Season. X_X But in a way, it's very exhilarating. This is more liek proper journalism - torrid, frantic editing, discussion, bothering complete strangers and working under the shadow of this dreadful deadline, compared to the ho-hum blah blah nature of normal Outlook. And sports reporting! I love sports reporting! It's about the only genre I can report seriously for, and I like it. Terminology et all. Heh. *is probably the only girl on the Season team who is cheerful about sports reporting*

[info]sansele is in hospital due to asthma. D= GET WELL SOON JILLY! Lift a few vats of ethanol.

And it's so freaky. I saw this woman on the MRT, and I definitely remember seeing her before! Woah, deja vu. >_> Same carriage, around the same time and everything. I think I remembered her because she had this pair of absolutely cool strapy silver shoes straight out of a greek myth, and she had this parrot tote bag, and she's got really interesting face structure. Eurasian? Spainish? Not local at any rate. And the second time I saw her, she had the same pair of shoes and bag, and the same style of dressing - loud colours, very coordinated, very posh. If she remembered me, she probably got more of a shock because I look exactly the same in my school Uni and file. ^_^;

Chinese Drama! Lol, yeah, poor auld monolingual me went for Chinese drama. Brillant, as always. =) Terrifyingly gay. ("Brokeback classroom", hurhur.) Really cool strobe light effects. Very much worth it.

Messers R and S have 4 weeks to convince me to sell my soul to Econs forever, if not I'll sell it to Law and be done with it. Unfortunately, Messers R and S = pwn the world, so uh, Law may lose. ^_^; I can't help it! I swear if Mr R was my econs tecaher I'd be getting As without studying, because I retained almost everything from thursday's econs S; and this from a completely verbal lecture. Woah. "Singaporeans are squirrels" indeedy Mr R. (We're doing the Singapore economy now.) "And all those foreign companies normally raped whatever country the operated in, and yet Singapore let them in. Why? There's nothing to rape!" (Mr R wins, didn't I tell you?) "And the other countries are all, why should we let them rape us? We can do it ourselv-" (Long pause at this point from Mr R, and absolute pandemonium as the LT disintegrates into laughter.) And Mr S and "will and may - heterogenous language" jibe. >_> WhatamIdoionginscienceagain???

And the eternal L/E internal debate. I think I could do L. I like all the weird, nitty gritty, present case things. It's like doing GP! Forever! Whee! ... But on the other hand, everyone know that L has one of the highest course dropout rates in the world, and there are infinity times more Econs scholoarships. Plus, Econs ROCKS. Best A level subject EVER. And I am this close to selling my soul to econs. (Wahaha, why can't I just do BOTH?!?)

I saw this ang moh guy on the train, and I SWEAR he looked exactly like the uke from G Defend and I nearly had a brain short circuit RIGHT. THERE.

WHEE elections. >D Am in contested single seat ward, woo hoo! Not that I can vote. -_-; (Boo, suxors! Lol.) PAP incumbernt is daddy's ... junior? Senior? Something? Oh well. (See, the importance of attending certain schools.)

Workers' Party Manifesto, IMHO, is extremely solid and well thought through. Social, judiciary, education, arts - anyone with half a brain should see that their ideas are solid. (And EXCUSE ME, you mean our right to vote is NOT (OMG), NOT in the constitution? *faints clean away*) I don't really understand housing and health care, though seriously, someone please introduce the WP to basic economy theory. Corporate social responsibility is complete BUNK. Dahlings, command and welfare economies go nowhere. Go read Friedman, there's a good idea. You'd love his income tax idea.

Also, linking [info]proinnseas-sempai's text of the banned SDP podcast )

I don't understand what's so bannable, really.

Dear PM Lee: wrt "defamation" - sir, Bush, Arroyo and NOT good example of non-corrupt governments.

Frankly, democracies only work if criticism of the government is allowed, so really, what happened to basic political theory?

Am off to go convince parents to vote for WP. >D (Sorry Mr C, I like you, but the PAP has got to go!)

Need... Ouran... High... Anime... Feel... Faint...

Yes, Kai I will post the Season issue with wushu here. Heh. Once we're cleared, that is.

I am obsessed.

Clearly, clearly, I need some sort of therapy if the lecturer during NMR goes "lower field" and my brain goes "Lower Tadfield! Good Omens! Heehee!"

Sure signs of people who have a very superficial knowledge of art history? They say names, but not movements. Salvador Dali -> Surrealism, Monet -> Impressionism. The only good part about AEP. >D Watch me cheat my way through GP, harhar.

Painting is the art of covering surfaces and exposing them to the critic. - The Devil's Dictionary.

ZOMG, I am consorting with the enemy during wushu finals! Nyah haha. And Kai's juniors literally call/remember me as "Drac". Good grief. -_-;
